Based out of Seattle, WA., Verbal Tip is an indie rock, dream pop, dance-punk, psychedelic rock, performance-art project heavily influenced by 80’s new wave and old-school punk. Founded by singer, keyboardist, and performing artist, Ali Ali Spider Check, along with her partner and drummer, Gary T Palmshaver, Verbal Tip is a band that creates out of need and is eager to share everything with their fans.

Formed in 2011 with an intent to find their own original sound, the band has since played numerous local and regional venues including Seattle Art Museum, The Crocodile, Chop Suey, The Sunset, High Dive, and many more.

In April of 2015, the group teamed up with producer Ben Jenkins (Walking Papers, The Young Evils) to record the band’s first single, Elastic, at The Killroom Studio in Seattle. The song highlights the band’s female/male attitude-infused vocals, danceable synthesizer hooks, and dreamy guitar melodies and garnered radio play both in the states as well as in Europe. Following the release of the single, they embarked on a west coast tour, playing shows from Bellingham to L.A.

Their first EP, Stiffed was self-released in 2013 on Testerqua Records and described by the Seattle Weekly as a “catchy five-song EP” with a “B-52’s flavor” and “simple pleasures of keyboard beats and synthy melodies…”.  In 2014 they self-released their second EP, Phased, featuring Come A Long Way, a catchy, fist-pumping song which warranted their first music video.

Verbal Tip’s new album, You. True. Me. Free., is the band’s fifth self-release and third EP. Nearly three years in the making, the album captures the band’s growth throughout this period, and features singles, Elastic, Words Aren’t Enough, Wrote Chu, Interior Friend, and Radio Silence, all of which have received radio airplay in the states and Europe. The entire album was recorded at The Killroom Studio in Seattle with producer Ben Jenkins.
